Recent Drawings

Drawings are different things to all people. For me, when I draw, mostly it starts with staring at the canvas/surface for a bit until the drawing appears , leaving me to trace the image. Like I am a vessel of sorts, the images obviously come from within my subconscious mind. It sounds trite but you really take from my drawings what you want. There is no solid explanation in my mouth forthcoming. Your `interpretation` of the drawing is your own.

an enormous cat / Really original mix

This track has had a few lives. I like this version the best.
It isn't `really` the Really original mix.
This just feels right.

pads hornet nest

Padshornetnest is the name of the drawing on my  header for this blog. It is essentially a drawing of a drawing. A copy so to speak but infused with my own. Above are photos of my friend Montes' house which stands in a forest on the border of Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York states. Would spend magic mushroom tainted weekends there with brothers Filamore and Alex Rodriguez. Monte collected art, and one of his stable of artists was  Michael Wilson, also known as `the tattooed man` of Coney Island freakshow fame. He had died years earlier but Monte had many of his paintings and drawings. One of which was in the bathroom.  This is the drawing my eyes coveted and I felt instantly that I somehow knew or understood this guy from this drawing. As I stared at the drawing it slowly fell off the shelf and I caught it before it ended up in the loo. Later that day a bear came around near the river which ran below the house in a deep valley. Monte said it was Michael and that he always paid a visit, at least once or twice a year.

007 in PP

A party on Saturday on the waterfront at Point Piper in a very 007-esq house designed by mate David Katon ( BKH ). Our host a lovely gal from eastern europe ( somewhere but not Russia ) who collects a few half dozen Thomas Struths..... I was a little gobsmacked but it got tired, as everything does in Sydney... although after recently dumping a move to Melbourne, I did realise the charms of our run-down whore of town.

Drink Up

home again home again

My Mother is selling her home of 40 odd years so I took the time to document the place and am making a film for her to view once it is gone. Its a classic 60's home built on large block with a waterfall (natural) in the back ( sounds like the real estate ad ..) I always find it strange to be there but this time it felt peaceful and actually quite beautiful.

` Contained space ` 2002
This sculpture was exhibited in 2002 as part of a group show Assemblage at The Front Room Gallery in Williamsburg Brooklyn. It's pretty self - explanatory, at the time I was discovering dark matter ( no not sex clubs ) quantum physics and how sexy wood is. Luckily, the gallery I worked for Karkula had a very special person in charge named John Erik Karkula who encouraged and exhibited my work. Karkula was a fantastic space and place to work and play. I owe alot to John Erik. It now sits proudly on my mantle in Sydney. I still make such pieces but they aren't as good as this original.

Early drawings - New York 2001-2002 and rant

heya
so these drawings are kind of the first drawings I did after I decided to
officially try and be a practising artist.
I was living in Williamsburg Brooklyn and in love.
All of these drawings were done in one go one night in an attic apartment in Weehaken New Jersey ( my boyfriend at the times' place )
Weehaken is a town just on the other side of the Hudson River perched high on a cliff face over looking Manhattan
it was a fantastic sight to see the city unfold as you exited the tunnel in the gypsy bus ( or `Talibus` as we called it .. thinking we would be blown up inside the tunnel by the driver - yes people were scared ) that left from Port Authority / 42nd Street every 20 mins
It was both a beautiful time in my life and also frightening as September 11th happened during this time and the city shifted in many fundamental ways...never to be the same
funnily enough, the drawings are about my home where I spent the first 10 years of my life and the isolation and need to escape from the suburban hum drum and vice

Phillip Mohr residence/Karkula - Murals

Karkula Mural 2001

mohr mural 2002

yo !
this was the 2nd mural / commission for me
it was for the architect Phillip Mohr at his loft in the old sugar mill in
Williamsburg Brooklyn - an amazing space - just a concrete bunker really with little furniture and no art
my payment was a beautiful ring made especially for me by Phillip ( he also makes amazing Jewellry ) and dinner ( I think )
it was completed in late 2002 and admired by many but alas, Phillip fell on hard times and had a slut model move in with her slut boyfriend who proceeded to paint over my mural without consent as it was ` too scary `...whore
I had previously done my first mural at Karkula Gallery ( where I worked ) which is the first pic, recently the business re-located and the fate of the mural is in the new tenants hands ..

Decision making can be regarded as an outcome of mental processes (cognitive process) leading to the selection of a course of action among several alternatives. Every decision making process produces a final choice. The output can be an action or an opinion of choice.

Legion Thornleigh ( reprise )

Legion Thornleigh

A desert land with a wide ocean at one end and a flat plain, which drops off into space at the other. There are separate islands within the ocean that are deserted but cities do exist on land. These cities or ` architecture ' are inhabited with various species. They have the ability to transport themselves to other locations incase of geographical disasters, or inclement weather. Vehicles that appear to be made of fiber patrol the landscape and able to ` jump ' time, that is to retrace their steps so as to rewrite history .
